This month the challenge is to create a:-
FABRIC BOOK
So, here is my fabric book:-
The basis of the book is Claudine Hellmuth's sticky back canvas - I cut 6 pieces of 4" square and did the background for each sheet whilst still on the backing. when coloured I then stuck the pages to each other and punched the holes for fixing with a crop-a-dile, each page was then decorated and the edges daubed with gold acryllic paint. When complete book rings were used to hold the pages together.
The front page has a glimmer mist mask which was held in place whilst distress ink was sponged over. I then cut strips of paper, one of which was punched and then a further one adhered to the top - a piece of beaded trim was adhered to the bottom of the paper. The butterfly is from craft bitz and you get loads in a packet, unfortunately, during my clear up I've gone and misplaced mine - but, here I have adhered text paper and then chalked the edges, tiny gem stones have been added for effect on the wings and body. The letters "mum" are grungeboard and were painted with gold dauber and then rock candy distress stickles over the top.
Pages 2 and 3
page 2 - painted using acryllic paint - and a mask which only the edges were painted over. The image is one from Crafty individuals. lace and ribbon were added diagonally across the page.
page 3 - a heidi swapp butterfly mask and distress ink to create the background. Butterfly as per front page. Flower made up of primas and punched foilage! the dream embellishment was made using air dry clay and coloured using perfect pearls.
page 4 and 5 page 4 - painted with acryllic paint and stamped over with text stamp and sequin waste - centre panel is a piece of stampboard coloured with chalk ink and stamped with a paperartsy stamp - buttons finish off the corner...
page 5 - is my fav! the background is distress ink, the stamps areTims flourish, the butterfly and word as previous, flowers are prima and the centre is a prima say it with crystals centre, pearls and a pin finish it off.
Back page:-
painted with stream dauber, flowers as previous - a few gems finish it off.
The book has been held together with book rings.
I'm going to use this as a Mothers Day card for my Mum this year so before presentation it will have a few "texts" put in place.
Pop on over to the Vanilla Sugar challenge blog and see what the other DT'ers have come up with.
