Paperartsy - Clare Lloyd

This week over on the paperartsy blog Clare Lloyd, one of the guest designers, has created the second tag for her tag book.  I can't draw, at all, as you will see in a mo! lol, but, inspired by her tag and clear instructions I had a go and voila…

umm think I need a bit more practise but not too bad for a first attempt!!

Darcy's Paperartsy Journal Pages

Cor what lovely weather we are having - just hope it lasts the entire summer!

I have just finished Darcy's journalling pages for June…

the pages look really bland here - but they took shed loads of work!! lolxx

I thought I'd be clever (doesn't pay!) and make all my elements, before sizing up the pages etc… so off I went - stamped my tissue paper, painted my cardstock and stamped using a stamp borrowed from Janet (Thanks Janet), didn't have the window so took a sizzix arch, drew on it and then cut it out before painting and using crackle glaze….didn't fancy the paper casting (Sorry Darcy) so I decided to dig out my molds and clay and make an urn for my flower, a flower head, a wheel and my phrase "grow art" once these had dried I then painted them with fresco paints, and added treasure gold.  The leaves were stamped and cut out and then the wheelbarrow - I didn't have the relevant paper so used corrugated card instead - drew on the back not thinking about the direction of the when barrow!! lol… so with my elements ready I started on the pages.

This is the left hand side page - I love my urn, I know my flower is top heavy - but, who cares??? lolxx  I think my window could do with being slightly larger, but, to be honest I'm quite impressed with it!! lol (I can't draw anything and to do those squares !!! rofl xx)

This is the left side - I love using stencils and paints and really enjoyed creating this side - my wheelbarrow didn't look too bad either - unfortunately I didn't check the size of my tags with my wheelbarrow ummm so they are slightly top heavy….

The word grow was stencilled using one of the kids old stencils I found when cleaning out the old cupboard I did buy some of the new Caran d'ache fibralo pens which I'm still learning to use, both tags have these pens used on them - I did have a slight accident here - after I had coloured my background and adhered the tissue paper and text paper I added my fibralo pens - I didn't like the way it looked so decided to add more water using a water droplet - I took the lid off my water bottle and promptly spilt it right across my desk soaking my tag! fortunately it did dry ok - just a little warped that will teach me hey!..……I did make a little wallet for one of the tags but it was slightly too big for my wheelbarrow

This month I have had fun playing with my new fibralo pens which I'm sure will get loads of use - have used crumpled up stamped tissue paper to make a textured base and my favourite element this month was the ripped up paper for the edges - really like this look and have already used it on another project.

I have also learnt another lesson - size matters!!!! lol xx

Can't wait until next week when the next pages are announced I really love playing along with this challenge - Its like attending a class at home in your own time - great fun…

Thank You Darcy.

Life is…..

too short to be anything but Happy" is the quote (theme) this month over on the Tando creative Challenge blog and today is my turn to share my piece:-

the base is an ATC sized canvas - when I sorted out my craft room the other month I found loads (and I mean loads) of canvas' which accounts for the sudden usage.  I started off by adding orange and yellow paints to the canvas - I then dripped some ink from the top letting the ink runs nearly reach the bottom.  I then added two section of crackle glaze painting a lighter paint over the top - background stamps were then added before adding a edge to the outer sides.  Taking a small butterfly from the grab bag and three small flowers I painted using fresco paints, adding shading with other shades of paint - I created the phrase on the pc and then inked using distress ink…rolling the edges. Bling to the body of the butterfly and to the centres of the flowers finish off the piece/

Pop on over to the challenge blog and see the other pieces, also, if you take part you might be this months lucky winner…

Squares

is this week's theme over on the Tando Creative Blog…and its my turn to kick off the week with my squared themed piece

The base is a white lined twinchie - I painted squares and then stamped with a square lined stamp from the Paperartsy set EEV02 - I then outlined the painted squares with a stabilo pencil.  I then took an inchie and painted, stamped and edges doodled before the work art was stencilled ontop.

Don't forget to pop over to the tando blog for more square projects this week.

Happy Birthday

Friday was Josh's 22nd Birthday, and I think, the first of many that will be spent away from home… He has now finished Uni and has been concentrating hard on finding employment, his hard work has paid off and he now has a job, based in Bristol - still, as long as he is happy!

So, here is the card I made and sent off to him…

The card is loosely based on Tim Holtz's tag for last month, I really liked the build up of different elements all drawn together.  The writing at the top is Japanese - Josh has a real hankering to go to Japan and for his birthday asked for Japanese language course….. wonder if he could pronounce it? (btw it says Happy Birthday).

Black and Yellow

The first week in another month is starting and the theme this week over on the Tando Creative blog is

BLACK AND YELLOW….

Today its my turn to share my project:-

I started my project by taking an ATC base and adding crackle texture paste thro' the distorted harlequin mask….I then left this to one side to dry.  I then used Paperartsy Yellow submarine (boy is that yellow!) and painted a piece of smoothy card stock - once dry I stamped my image and cut it out….I then added glossy accents to the writing.  Once the texture paste had dried I added the yellow paint to the background adding a stamp from the Ellen Vargo stamps in black - I then inked the edges with black distress ink adding doodling around the edges.

Don't forget to pop over to the tando Creative blog this week to see more Black and Yellow projects - there is also a new theme and May's winner announced on Wednesday over on the Challenge blog too..
