Challenge day

over on the Tando Creative blog and there is still a few days left to join in…

This week I'm adding this media board to the collection:-

I painted the mixed media board using three different blue paperartsy fresco paints - I then stamped the background using the new Ellen Vargo stamps for Paperartsy….I then used the tando sequin stencil for the edges.  The tando heart was painted with deep blue paint, crackle glaze added then a paler blue on the top - white dots around the edges finished it off.  The two tando keys were painted dark blue and three coats of gloss glaze added - the words are an alphabet set - stamped onto white card stock and then outlined with blue ink.

Stencil week

Each week over on the Tando Creative blog we have a theme - this week is to use stencils.  The Tando creative stencils are really robust and the thick format of them make them perfect for all mediums - they clean up really well too.

I have made this hanging for my project:-

I used texture paste thro'  Andy Skinner stencils - burning rubber and children, adding texture with my palette knife to the children (the children stencil is really good value as you get small and large images with two different shaped balloons with the masks too). When the paste had set the entire piece was painted with paperartsy fresco paints,  paint was then added thro' the sequin mask.  By putting the stencils back over your raised shapes you can get a cleaner image - so replacing my stencils I added black paint to my children images and treasure gold to the burning rubber shapes…highlights and shadows were then added with doodling on the edges to finish off the piece.

We have new posts most days so pop on over to the Tando blog for more stencilling fun…

journal page

This morning I have been having a play in my craft room - listening to my music….so peaceful!

So, inspired by this post on Paperartsy by Helen Mezengarb, I made this:-

I liked Helens idea of the scrunched tissue on the base of my page, but, since my clear up I can't find my dress patterns…they are somewhere but frustration was setting in, so tissue paper from OH's new shirt was used instead!! lol   So, I  started off by adding grungepaste and torn tissue to my page then adding paint - I added three blues from paperartsy fresco paints, but, I have now put them away and can't remember which ones!! lol a light, medium and dark! .  I then added treasure gold to the tissue and the raised grungepaste.  I then added stamps from the new Ellen Vargo (EEV006) plate using the darker of the blue paint on my mat….. I then stamped from the Lynne Perrella plate (LPC028) direct onto my page using watering can archival ink.  I stamped mini EM03 direct to my page and then onto smoothy card stock and then painted in using the same paints, the smoothy card stock was then cut out and added to my base using silicone glue…only the top darker blue painted area is added the rest was painted on the main page….. the saying was stamped from EDY07 onto smoothy card stock and then coloured using distress inks….I painted the middle of my stamped cogs and added a layer of neocolour 2's to the edge before doodling and adding a date stamp…what a lovely Sunday mid-morning isn…now to make the birthday cards I should have been doing!!! lol

Darcy Month 4

When I saw Darcy's Paperartsy Journalling pages for May I just loved the colours and knew that I just had to get the same effect….. unfortunately, mine aren't quite as green, think that it needed a bit more guacamole?

I had great fun creating these pages - it was the first time that I had stencilled grunge paste onto material, not sure if it was my thing, but, I tried it…..my tissue flowers disappeared totally and my paint drips didn't drip that much!! at least I know how much water is needed next time!! lol.  I used patterned paper for the texture on my plain pages, typically I had had a de-stash of bits the week before the post went live!! lolxx (if you read the original post here you'll know what I'm getting at).

A big Thank you to Darcy for another great set of pages can't wait until next week when the next ones are published.

Card inspired by Keren Baker

This week over on the Paperartsy blog Keren Baker has been sharing her fantastic clean and simple designs…. this card really caught my eye at the beginning of the week, along with the cut out image frame too…I just had to make the card…so here it is…

I used the same Lynne Perrella set as used on the original card and coloured the faces with caran d'ache watercolour pencils…I then added a layer of glossy accents….I looked into the possibility of mounting the images onto brightly coloured card stock - but!!! decided on black! really must get out of this "black" habit! I decided to give the background a very pale stencilled look - so using tumbled glass distress ink and a harlequin stencil I added a pale grounding for my black washi tape! then I added the images and added a few pieces of bling.

I'm sitting here in my craft room with music playing and the windows open, playing - what a lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon!!

Hope you're all having a lovely Saturday xx

INCORPORATING A KEY...

…Is this month theme over on the Tando Creative Challenge blog and today its my turn to share my piece:-

The base is an atc sized canvas, which was painted and then stamped over using a technique previously used here.  Cream card stock was treated to the distress wrinkle free technique and then stamped with a dylusions stamp before being cut up.  The "smile" was mounted onto black card stock, and the word "key" was removed and a tando grab bag key put in its place! A lovely Tando heart was painted red and a gem added to finish off the piece.

SWIRLS

…is this weeks theme over on the Tando Creative blog - and today its my turn to share my piece…

Using:-
Large mixed media board
long flourish stencil

I created:-

Using Paperartsy's grunge paste I stenciled, using the long flourish, directly onto the mixed media board - I then added all of the new Lin Brown paint colours and blended using a baby wipe.  Once dry, I replaced my stencil and added olive bronze treasure gold using a dry brush - once dry buffing it up to get a shine. I added a metal flower and a resin centre (made with some scraps of paper), the stickers were added to black card stock and then cut out….

We have a full week this week over on the Tando Creative blog so drop in and have a look.

journal page

I don't usually post on here when a post goes live over on Papermaze, but, I'm so pleased with this journal page I just had to share…

I use a lot of paint in my projects and hate to waste any, so my journals are always on hand to get the left overs….with this page ready to go...

I created this:-

I've added portfolio crayons, caran d'ache neocolor 2 crayons, dylusion sprays, paperartsy paint to stencil with and stamp with and various pencils to add shade and doodling to the fab Darcy's eclectic stamps….. all (apart from my crayons)  available at Papermaze.

Black and Green

Over on the Tando Creative blog this week the theme is Black and Green…

Today its my turn to share my piece:-

I started with 4 x straight edged twinches and stuck them together with some re-positionable tape to make 1 4x4inch square.  I then took a selection of green paints from Paperartsy (can't remember which ones) and coloured the base.  I then took the three part tree mask and using the tree stencil I added black soot distress ink around the outside…then using the circle part I added green paint ….whilst wet I added a paler green to the circles to add light spots.  I wasn't happy with the colours of my tree so painted with green paint, in two shades, and once dry I outlined the tree and circles with a black pen.  The stamped flowers and phrase at the bottom are Darcy's stamps from paperartsy.  The edges were then inked with black distress ink and then olive bronze treasure gold added.  I then removed the tape and added onto a piece of black card stock.

Don't forget to pop on over to the Tando Creative blog this week for more black and green projects.
