Male Themes

…is this weeks theme over on the Tando Creative Blog…and I'm kicking off the week with:-

The base is one of the smaller media boards made by Tando Creative, I have attached "wood effect" paper and then brayered a layer of snowflake paperartsy fresco paint… I have then stamped and stencilled onto the base before inking the edges with black soot distress ink.  The moustache is a free stamp from the Craft Stamper mag…. the Tando cogs, screws and nuts and bolts have been painted and then coated with ranger crackle glaze…. some washi tape was added to the edges too….. there are some sneak peeks on my piece too can you guess what??….. lolxx

Don't forget to visit the Tando Creative blog during the week as most of the DT have pieces scheduled.

Bold and Bright

..is the new theme over on the Tando Challenge blog and today its my turn to share my project…

I'm really out of my comfort zone here…for some reason bright things always ended up grunged! so, this was a real achievement…

The base is an inner out of a arch with straight edges pack - this was then coloured using distress paints and then distress inks…. I used white paint thro' Kazs mask to make the dotted centre piece… the birds  are from a minis bag and painted with distress paint, a stamped sentiment finished off the piece (this was still wet when I photographed it tonight - will take a better picture tomorrow - the saying is:- "art doesn't have to be pretty")

Pop on over to the challenge blog - there is a great prize of Tando goodies up for grabs for one lucky monthly winner…see you there….

black and white

This week the theme over on the Tando Blog is "Black and White" and I'm kicking off the week with:-

The base is a large frame which I have used one base and two outer pieces…the outside was painted with "little black dress" fresco paint whilst the inner was painted with snowflake - the outer edge was stamped using a script stamp and the white paint…the inner stamped with black ink….. the flower is from a bag of flowers with stems and treated the same as the outer frame, the butterflies are minis and treated the same as the inner frame….

Don't forget to visit the Tando blog this week for more black and white projects.

Paperartsy Christmas Cracker part 3

I've really enjoyed the videos Leandra has done over the Christmas period and the techniques she has shared with the fresco paints….anyone who reads my blog will know that I use these paints a lot anyway, but, its great to have new techniques from the maker to try..

So, this time it was Leandras take on the Finibar style using the paints instead of sprays and luminarte paints…

This is my take -

I had just taken possession of a paper maiche heart which was in an online sale so I used that as my base….. I didn't have all the colours that were used and so I made it up as I went along….not bad for a first attempt am going to try the same technique on a box next… watch this space.

Paperartsy inspired piece

so, yesterday, 1st January 2014, I spent a very enjoyable few hours in my craft room - inspired by the video created by Leandra over at Paperartsy I decided to give her techniques a go…

the basis was to create tinted grunge paste using the fresco's paint range… that was the easy part! then to add the paints, in a patchwork theme, onto canvas - I learnt here that I tend to err on the "less is more" theory and for this that doesn't work!! lol I also realised that perhaps I should have thought about things more than just go with it…. you put a wash over the top - lesson learnt "don't rub with the baby wipe just dab!!" lol - the result is ok…think I will try the techniques again tho - but this time using more mixture and smaller blocks.  I did add a few extras!! the blocks were outlined using a stilo pencil and I edged the canvas board with paint and added a bit of treasure gold…. The frame is a part of a Tando kit and the metal embellishments and key are from my stash.

Pop on over to the Paperartsy blog and take a look at the videos by Leandra, each one so different and all so full of inspiration.
