Tando - Spring has sprung

Spring is sprung is this weeks theme over on the Tando Creative blog - I don't know where you are in the country, but, its flipping cold here! don't know about Spring has sprung more like Winter is back!

So, in order to try and feel more spring like I've made this rather bright journal page.

The base is my large art journal.  I started the background by applying Ranger texture paste in opaque matte (wow I like this! lovely and thick, dries quickly and with the ability to be smooth or add peaks, my new fav!) thro' the mini distress diamond mask - once dry I added some DecoArt fluid acrylic paints…. various doodling and stencilling was then added to the page using paint and inks… I then added some gold texture paste thro' the mini distress sequin waste stencil….. a couple of Tando mini butterflies were also painted using the DecoArt colours.  Using some distress crayons I created a masterboard and then stamped the flowers from the Paperartsy plate EKC0, I cut these out and then gave them, and the butterflies, a coating of Distress collage medium - crazing…a stamped saying from another paperartsy plate, some washi tape and a bit of prima bling finished off the page.

Don't forget there is still time to join in with this months challenge over on the Tando blog…hope to see you there.

For the first time ever I have combined both of my DT responsibilities for this week, time has just been against me  - please see the Tando Creative blog and also Papermaze Scrap, paper and scissors...

Watercolour technique week...

Hi, its my turn to post over on the Tando blog today.

A new thing for 2016 was to have a regular technique week.  Tando products are so versatile and this give us, as a DT, the opportunity to show how our techniques work with various products.

The technique this week is watercolour.  I do love my watercolour pencils, but, obviously they weren't going to be any good on naked chipboard - but, I did have a lovely travel set of watercolours which hadn't seen the light of day - so, I decided to use those and made this:-

The base is one of the long tags, which are a recent Tando release.  I gessoed the base and then added some acrylic paint, once dry I added some stencilling and doodling to my background.  I then stamped my flowers and heat embossed with white embossing powder (which is something I took from a recent workshop at Birds in the Barn with Kay Carley).  I then added some white watercolour paint to the petals, once dry I then watercolored them.  The mini butterflies had a layer of white paint and then several different layers of red paint…all just to try and add some depth to the wings.  The butterflies were then doodled before a little white pen shading was added.

Pop on over to the Tando this week for some more watercolour projects.

Colour week

Hi, as its the first week of the month its the colour week over on the Tando creative blog.

This is Aprils colour palette:-

just right for this time of the year, right?

I have made this ATC - my 2016 ATC's are all looking really good…

I painted paperartsy fresco paints to the base and then doodled using stencils and lids and some stamping… the same paints were used to paint two mini butterflies which were then doodled with a white pen.  The stamp is by Tim Holtz.

The March winner is announced on the blog today - don't forget that the challenge is open to everyone for every week topic.
