plaque inspired by Liz Borer

During the month of September there have been some striking projects over on the Paperartsy blog - even with a month to take part I'm still skimming thro' by the skin of my teeth! lol

I really liked Liz Borers plaque and have made one

if I'm honest its still a work in progress - the background of the plaque is what really grabbed me, but, whatever I put on the top I'm not struck with, so have left it nakeeeddd until I find the right thing to add.  Must say that I got very sticky doing this!! lol great fun tho'….

My rose at the top is scrunched up calico material….I didn't like the painted one so have left this bare too…

Autumn colours

was the theme over on the Tando Creative blog this week…I'm closing the week with:-

The base is a mixed media board which I painted with a neutral colour first - then I added a couple of oranges and a yellow based acrylic paint - I didn't pay much attention to the actual coverage, just wanted to ensure that I got the base covered.  Taking the round stencil I stencilled thro' distress ink…Then I took Kaz's tree mask and using the tree base painted thro' - i added more colour once the stencil had been removed - using the leaves part of the stencil I once again added distress ink thro'…. my owl is from the grab bag of owls and the saying is one of the new stamps by Paperartsy….

Box canvas inspired by Gillian Simson

You know when you see a creation and are just taken with it? sometimes it takes a while to "get it" but others you just go wow? well, that was how I was with this box canvas by Gillian Simson over on the Paperartsy blog….the original post is here…

here is my piece:-

I used the same colours for the project.  I used a Tando large swirl mask for my background stencilling, which I followed thro' onto the side and top (duh! lol), I used a text stamp from the Lynne Perella set LPC028 and the new Sarah Newman stamps too… the background for the feathers was created using a brayer….I painted a couple of cotton reels and then stamped using the text stamp with the paler blue (space cadet and lake wanaka)…..the top had a piece of hessian and cotton frayed and then a button was added…all the edges were given a thick coat of treasure gold and then buffed when dry...

Thank you for the inspiration Gillian.

last Darcy Journalling page..

I have really enjoyed taking part in Darcy's journalling pages over on the Paperartsy blog.  Each month has been something new to try, perhaps something (well, ok, usually something) that I wouldn't have done - but, its good to push the boundaries and sometimes you find something that you really like when you initially thought you wouldn't. To be honest, there have been a couple of things I wouldn't try again, but, on the whole I have widened my technique horizons a lot! so thank you Darcy for pushing me to my limits and for all the inspiration over the last 8 months…

This is my take on the last pages:-

ok, so for the full range of details, pop on over to Darcy's post.

The background is created with fibralo pens, and something that I will definitely do again, I didn't have the brick stamp to create the edges but used Darcy's brick stamp from EDY10 - the tree - well….. I can't draw, I've said it numerous times, and when I try it goes weird!!! lol so I decided to do the trunk and get the paintbrush and paint and go for it…. the bad bits are covered over with the leaves anyway!! the leaves are an old stamp - its acrylic, I don't think you should use paints with them?? anyway, I did and it stuck to my finger lovely so that I could get into all those awkward places you can't with an acrylic block! iykwim? rofl xx my die cut leaves have my fav techniques on, so they consist of:- using crackle glaze, stencil with paint and the bump technique, using fibralo pens, grunge paste thro' and stencil and a stencil pushed into grunge paste, resist, brayered, masterboard left overs from previous page, mixing paint, layering 3 colours, paint and then stamp in same colour over, all held in place with my little apples and leaves.

Darcy I have really enjoyed all your pages - thank you for sharing and all the hard work that went into each and every page….love them all xx

challenge day

over on the Tando Creative challenge blog…the theme this month is:-

LETTERS AND NUMBERS

I'm sharing with you a card I made for a special occasion yesterday…

The base is a 6x6 white card - I have used silver paint thro' the heart stencil and once dry have part outlined the hearts and covered some with glossy accents.  I took a male and female form from the mini people set, 25 from a set of numbers and triple heat embossed them with silver embossing powder - the heart, from the grab bag, was painted with silver paint.

Don't forget that the challenge is open to everyone and you don't have to use any Tando products - there is a great prize at the end of the month too…pop along to the blog and join in.

Tando Tag

Today is the last day of tag week over on the tando creative blog and I'm finishing off the week with this tag:-

I used a die cut tag as my base and gave it a coat of acrylic paint…once this had dried I brayered on some more paint…I then used the round grid mask and the "bump" technique to create my background - some darker paint was also added to the edges…..I then painted some stars, from the grab bag of stars..and gave them a covering of distress tickles, once dry they were outlined with black and hi-lighted with white - I took a straight domino and painted with acrylic paint, adding darker toning on the edges, doodling and white dots finished it off…

Black and Purple

is this weeks theme over on the Tando Creative blog this week and I'm kicking off the week with:-

I started with a small Karen's frame and adhered two outers together and painted black, and painted the base plate purple - using the same paints I painted three flowers from the mini range, a mini heart  and a mini key - the key, heart and frame were then given a coating of Ranger crackle glaze.  I added black outlines to the flowers and a piece of bling for the centres.  At this stage I wasn't quite sure where I was going with this - but, after finding my domino stamps I decided to stamp "imagine" with black ink and mounting her inside the frame….the flowers and key were then extras' for photo purposes!!! lolxx  a bit of purple treasure gold finished off the frame.

There are projects most days over on the Tando blog do pop on over and take a look.
