The Secret Door

Today sees the last (of this release) of our Works of Parts kits being showcased.

Kaz and I were both lucky enough to have the large kits to play with before they were released and we both really hope that you've enjoyed our little blog posts into each kit.

Today's kit is:-

 flowers close up

a funny thing happened when I made this piece....as you will have noticed I love the effect that Rangers glossy accents, matte accents and crackle glaze give to the chipboard.  This time, however, when I applied the matte glaze it cracked on one flower, (and all of the heart pieces) the two above were both colourized using the same distress ink and coated with the same matte glaze but notice how very different the finish is....I love things being different and all flowers are different aren't they!!

Do pop on over to the Tando blog to see Kaz's project.

Tando Creative Challenge...

This week on the Tando Creative Challenge blog its my turn for my "Alter it" piece

I've had several wooden boxes in my stash for a while and so decided to alter one to store all my bingo numbers in.

The box was coated with a pale blue acryllic paint and then paperartsy fresco crackle glaze smeared on and then white acryllic over the top - this paperartsy paint is totally brilliant! see the cracks on the box?

I've then tried to age the edges using distress ink and viva decor inka gold.  I thenstamped a number stamp by Tim Holtz along the sides of the box...the keyhole and keys I found in my stash...some rope finished off around the edge.

The top has been decorated withTando flowers which were covered with distress ink and then stamped a black pen was used to draw inside the edges and then a coat of crackle glaze added, the Tando hearts were treated in the same way and the Tando frame was coated with frantage embossing enamel and then little stickers added....a tape measure, beaded pin, lace and number tokens finished it all off.

Pop on over to the Tando Creative blog and see what the other DT members have come up with...and the prize for this months lucky winner is a Works of Parts kit...

"C" for Carol

The Bramford Crop girls have been at it again - this time Janet gave us all a letter which related to our name - we could either swap with a partner or do our own...I decided to do my own piece and here it is:-

You wouldn't believe how this piece came about - it was painted - far too boring, then I saw a technique to add fantasy film and fibres - went horribly wrong, so out came the ferro and the heat gun, perfect pearls, spray inks and extra embossing powder and some inka gold...then I didn't want to cover up any of the colour...lol...anyway, some lace, a flower made with glassine and using the tattered florals dies, some beaded pins, some ideology, a swirly flower made froma  circle and then my butterfly...he's made out of Wendy Veech's clearly for art product (don't know what to call it!!) I've stamped a butterfly with gold acryllic, cut it out, warmed it up and shaped it then added a spinner and a bit of prima bling - loving that bling....

Happy Daze - May Queen challenge

Over on the Happy Daze blog the challenge for May is "May Queen"...so I've created this:-

ok, so it might not fit into whats perceived as "May Queen" but the text did say:- "Interpret the theme as you see it" - the birds could be female and they do have a crown and the base is regal purple!!! lol I do hope that it meets with the rules!!

The base is a canvas board which was covered with dylusions paints, once dry more paint was picked up using a baby wipe and dabbed on, this was then overstamped with various stamps....the base swirl was stamped and then embossed with gold embossing powder.  The "queens" are made from ten seconds metal in ivory with viva decor inka gold smeared over the top.

Stampotique ATC

The Stampotique Designers challenge this time is to create an ATC.... so, here's mine

The white base was sprayed with Dylusions spray inks and then spritized with biscotti perfect pearls.....I then stamped using black ink using the swirls stalk stamp then doodled, aka Kaz - the word stamp and "Head" were stamped onto another piece of white cardstock and coloured in using distress inks.  The words were cut out and the edges re-inked before adding a layer of glossy accents.
